Halas Homes started life as a specialist organisation for people with learning disabilities over fifty years ago. A group of local people, including parents of persons with learning disabilities, realised a vision to provide support for local children with learning disabilities.
After a great deal of hard work and fundraising Halas House building was officially opened in 1967 and provided a range of activities available to local people with learning disabilities including a day nursery.
In 1976 Halas Homes residential home for people with learning disabilities was the first purpose built home in the local area and opened in February to its first two residents.
The project has grown over the years and today the home is registered for 33 residents including respite facilities.
In 2002 the organisation once again diversified and expanded to provide Supported Living to people with learning disabilities. From purchasing one property in the local vicinity of the residential home the organisation now has 5 properties and currently supports 14 people with learning disabilities in their own tenancies.
In 2008, the organisation was successful in securing an innovation grant to enable it to diversify and expand on daytime activities.
The Meeting Place is located within Halesowen and is available for people with learning disabilities where they can meet, socialise, interact and join in with on, and off-site activities and events.
We are committed to provide high quality services to people with learning disabilities, which can be purchased in their local area to meet their individual needs.
